Takuli III Sailing Adventures

Skippered Charters Exploring Coastal British Columbia, Canada

About Takuli III

Takuli III's is 45 feet in length,  her bright interior is made of natural teak and the fiberglass hull is insulated to keep things warm and dry inside. Each bunk has a 4" thick mattress and its own reading light. There is one double berth and this can be reserved by booking early. Takuli is well laid out with plenty of room on deck and below. The cockpit can be fully enclosed for protection from  wind and rain. There is also an extensive natural and cultural reference library on board to help you learn more about this unique archipelago and its peoples. Group sizes of up to six can be accommodated and a group of four can reserve the whole boat for a trip. We have had three generations of the same family on board. Singles and couples are welcome to book with us.  Over the years, I have had many couples celebrating anniversaries and have even had a legal wedding ceremony take place on board.  Learn more about sailing, anchoring, navigation or other ships duties by participating  or observing.

We carry extensive first aid supplies and are trained in wilderness first aid.  Our V.H.F. radio keeps us in touch with the coastguard and marine world and we also carry a cell phone.  We carry a six person certified life raft and a motorized rigid hulled inflatable for shore trips. Safety is important and I will go over safety protocols with you when you are settled on board.

Photography, drawing, painting, inter tidal exploration, bird and whale watching, hiking and sailing are common pursuits while on our trips.  There are also small towns and villages to visit.  We plan our schedule to have plenty of time ashore.

Nanaimo, British Columbia, at 49 degrees north, receives plenty of daylight hours in the summer. Our itinerary is flexible to allow for weather or tides to turn in our favour. The inside waters where we travel are protected. Georgia Strait is less protected and can be windy with waves. Our anchorages are usually very still and quiet.  We cook up delicious and varied meals. Snacks and a variety of hot and cold drinks are always available.
