Visit the islands & marine parks of coastal British Columbia

Explore the "supernatural" northwest coast of Canada!

   Welcome!

Join the 45' cutter Takuli III for a voyage of discovery through the beautiful marine wilderness of coastal British Columbia. Your captain, Bill Plummer, is a licensed captain enjoying his 12th year of chartering Takuli III.  Our trips are a great way to experience the islands, mountains and waterways of the Pacific Northwest. Takuli III is warm and dry with an enclosed cockpit so cruising is comfortable. We visit coastal communities and share their arts, crafts and culture. We also view rich ecosystems and diverse wildlife against a backdrop of incredible scenery. Explore the shoreline at leisure in our double kayak or rowing dinghy, a quiet and relaxing way to discover what's out there! We anchor in quiet bays at night and enjoy healthy, delicious food.

Takuli III is Transport Canada licensed as a passenger vessel, is fully insured for chartering, and has been in business since 1993.

Kayaking is a great way to discover the many inlets and bays along the Pacific Coast. You travel quietly along the shoreline and see much more wildlife both above and below the waterline. The inflatable two person kayak paddles well and has comfortable seating.  Wherever we drop anchor we can kayak as the anchorages are free from waves and intimate to the land. Kayaking in the two person inflatable can be enjoyed by everyone.  Rowing the dinghy is also fun and something a parent and child can enjoy together. This picture of boys kayaking was taken in Black Lake, just a short hike from Roscoe Bay in Desolation Sound. The water in this fresh water lake is warm and great for swimming.  Picture at right is taken from a bluff overlooking Cod fish Bay at Jedediah Island, Takuli III is anchored for the night.

Lots to do when we drop the hook!

The Walker Bay 10' sailing dinghy adds a lot of fun to our charters. This easy to use dinghy rows and sails well. Two can sail in the bays and channels where we anchor. Hands on fun while exploring the shoreline.  Go for a  gentle row at sunup or sunset and enjoy the peace and tranquility of a quiet anchorage. A great way to reflect on the beauty of our surroundings. Pictured here is Ciaran, an  experienced dinghy sailor from Ireland sailing in Pender Harbour, September, 2005.

Takuli III also sails with a motorized, rigid aluminum hulled inflatable dinghy. The "fleet" of small vessels we carry allows for flexibility and freedom to explore.

Gulf Island Sailing:

"Like sailing through a painting" was how Steve described our sail through the Gulf Islands last week. Sunshine and warm breezes provided us with great kayaking, swimming, hiking, rowing and sailing. We visited Pirate's Cove Marine Park, Wallace Island, Prevost Island, the village of Ganges on Saltspring Island, Sidney Spit Marine Park, Montague Harbour and Bedwell Harbour on South Pender Island. We climbed up Mount Norman on South Pender Island for a spectacular 360 degree Gulf Island vista. The skies were clear for a nice view of Mount Baker to the south. We caught some fish and dungeness crab and viewed Dalls' Porpoise, harbour porpoise, lots of seals and some jumping salmon. The sailing dinghy proved quite a hit and we used it every day. Both Kelsey and Claire made their first solo sail by day four. We sailed back to Nanaimo from Montague Harbour with a nice sunny southwest breeze and had an exciting impromptu race with another sailboat for a couple of hours. A great family trip before Claire and Kelsey head off to college. Picture of Takuli III anchored just off Chatterbox Falls at Princess Louisa Inlet Marine Park.

Thank you for making our holiday such a unique experience. It takes a few days to appreciate the magnificent surroundings of Princess Louisa
Inlet - there is so much natural beauty that it is hard to take it all in at once. We all thoroughly enjoyed your cooking and the whole sailing experience was so memorable and different from our daily lives. Henry is even considering buying a boat, you made such an impression on him. Thanks again for welcoming us aboard.
